It is amazing that the Obama administration seriously believes it has had a positive influence in the Middle East.

Earlier this week, White House spokesman Josh Earnest was pressed on how the president’s campaign to degrade and destroy the self-proclaimed Islamic State was going. Overall, Earnest said, the president’s strategy has been a success, and no significant change in planning was needed.

After the fall of Ramadi, Iraq, and Palmyra, Syria, in the past week, we think the administration might want to take another look.

Rather than running from the Bush policy in Iraq, the GOP presidential candidates need to recast their approaches to the Middle East. President Bush left the region in relatively good shape.

The significant problems occurred when Mr. Obama failed to negotiate what is known as a “status-of-forces” agreement to leave a peacekeeping force in Iraq. Such an agreement was what occurred in Korea, where troops have secured the peace more than 60 years.

THE CLINTON CASH MACHINE

Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton are among the most amazing people on the face of the earth.
How could any other family get away with so much almost all of the time?

In a prima facie example of figures lie and liars figure, the Clinton Foundation has suddenly found an apparently elusive $26.4 million in previously unreported payments for speaking fees from foreign governments and corporations. For more details, see http://cnn.it/1F5rXIL

ETHICS ON THE ROCKS

The Clinton Foundation has taken CNN’s Jake Tapper off a list of speakers at the Global Initiative’s annual meeting next month in Denver. When USA Today inquired about the listing on the foundation’s website, Mr. Tapper’s name disappeared shortly after that.

We are uncertain whether Mr. Tapper made the request or the foundation took his name off the list. For more details, see http://usat.ly/1cOYkUq

BALTIMORE IS STILL BURNING

Against the backdrop of the formal indictment of six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, Baltimore recorded its 100th homicide on Thursday.

That’s the fastest the city has reached so many homicides in so short a time. That number includes 39 murders in the past month alone.

If #BlackLivesMatter, shouldn’t blacks also be held responsible for this alarming rate? For more details, see http://bsun.md/1F5sHNS

We remember those from the military who died in their service to the United States on this Memorial Day! We will be back on Tuesday.
